Immaculate Heart encourages students to participate in a wide range of co-curricular experiences that are designed to sharpen their skills and to broaden their perspective of the world around them. Some of these include:

Field Trips
Students expand their classroom learning experience with trips throughout the year to areas of interest including: The Will Greer Theatricum Botanicum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Huntington Library, retreat centers, the Norton Simon Museum, the Music Center, the Pacific Aquarium, Olvera Street, A Noise Within Theatre, and the Bilingual Arts Foundation Theater. Sixth graders experience a four-day outdoor education trip at Camp Highland

Family Heritage Day
Students recognize and celebrate their cultural diversity during this annual event. Wearing ethnic dress, they share their family heritage through music, dance, stories and a vast array of international foods.

Sports
Athletes compete in the Delphic League in volleyball, basketball, softball, swimming, soccer and cross country.

Community Outreach
The middle school student body adopts primary grade students from a local elementary school and annually hosts a Halloween Carnival, a Christmas Program and an Easter Egg Hunt for them. Students also participate in projects assisting children from Alexandria House and Covenant House and retirees at Holly Royal. Food drives are held and donations are sent to area distribution centers.

Retreats
Each class participates in a day-long retreat held off-campus. Retreats focus on friendship and caring for one another as students explore their relationship with God.

Chorus
Chorus class is held after school for those who wish to perform at the Christmas Concert, December Open House and Academic Awards Night. Students also perform at the school prayer services and liturgies.

Camp Highland
The sixth graders enjoy a four-day science trip to Camp Highland in the San Bernadino Mountains. Activities include canoeing, rock climbing, archery and hiking.

Music Center
IHMS belongs to the Music Center on Tour. Students enjoy live performances by artists from many different cultures. Performances have included storyteller Olga Loya, the Lulu Washington Dance Theater, Will and Company, and the Pacifico Dance Company.
