Asian American Club brings awareness of Asian countries, cultures, news, and human rights. The club sponsors performances, guest speakers, assemblies and entertainment
The Bamboo (Student Newspaper)
BSA (Black Student Association) enables young women of Immaculate Heart to appreciate and understand the African American culture within today’s society. BSA represents the rich culture and intellectual contributions of African Americans within the school campus and greater community. BSA members aspire to challenge themselves academically, foster interracial relationships in the community and develop into models of the Immaculate Heart spirit. BSA hosts informational meetings, promotes black college tours, and performs cultural and historical presentations.
CSF (California Scholarship Federation)
acknowledges excellence in scholarship and promotes service to others through peer tutoring, presentations at the annual luncheon, college tours and book drives. As a special service “provided”, CSF also supports students with their first and second semester “study” survival bags prior to first and second semester exams.
Elizabeth Stanton Political Society (ESPS) provides an opportunity for students with special interest in current events, politics, and history. During meetings, the club discusses, analyzes and debates topics of interest.
French Club promotes an understanding of and appreciation for the French culture. The club sponsors popular culture movie days and hosts an annual food sale of French delicacies. Each year, the French club carols during the Christmas Program. The club recognizes its outstanding members.
The Genesian Players (Drama) involves students as cast and stage crew in two major productions a year, the annual Christmas Program and almost every school wide assembly. Immaculate Heart also hosts a ComedySportz (improv) team, which competes against other league teams and performs at special campus events.
GAA (Girls' Athletic Association) promotes interscholastic sporting activities as well as the intramural sporting activities. GAA sponsors events such as the highly anticipated spirit week, pep rallies, scholar athlete luncheons and the annual car wash. GAA also supports service programs such as blood drive and the collection of athletic shoes for underprivileged peers.
Heart to Heart (Campus Ministry)
affords students the opportunity to focus on the spiritual dimensions in their lives by taking active roles in campus ministry. Members put their faith in action by planning, producing and participating in the school’s liturgical celebrations, and as they promote peace, justice, and compassion by serving those in need through outreach events and activities such as Heal the Bay (coastal clean-up), Proyecto Guadalupano (feeding homeless), Impacto (tutoring children), Blood Drive, Recycling program, and collections of money and food to help the poor.
Liturgical Dancers present worshipful movement for several of the schools liturgies and prayer services, providing an alternative expression of our devotion to God.
Multicultural Club helps students to understand and appreciate the vast array of cultures that exist within the school community. Members create informative and entertaining assemblies that give students insights about specific cultures and their traditions through music, dance, readings of poetry and prose, and speakers who describe personal experiences. The club also hosts multiple social gatherings on campus throughout the year.
SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) provides knowledge and resources to students to make intelligent and responsible decisions, and through peer to peer interaction communication and support. In order to accomplish their mission, SADD organizes events such as Break the Cycle (Domestic Abuse Presentation), Red Ribbon Week, Personal Pledges programs and Chain Link Promises and various friendship activities on campus.
Scio and Mu Alpha Theta fosters interest and involvement in the fields of math, science and animation. The club sponsors peer tutoring, game days, field trips, anime movie showings and assists in running the recycling program on campus. Scio also oversees the honor society of Mu Alpha Theta.
Spanish National Honor Society (SNHS) provides the opportunity for students to celebrate major traditions of the Latin culture. Members promote understanding through music; dance the sharing of ethnic foods. SNHS performs at the Christmas Program. Each year SNHS participates with Heart to Heart in the Proyecto Guadalupano project.
