What is your favorite lesson to cover and why?
I love teaching evolution. Evolution is the thread that ties everything together in biology. Biology only makes sense when you take natural selection into consideration. It is fun to see students make connections and understand the complexity of evolution and then apply their knowledge to help our fragile Earth.
Besides teaching, what other roles do you play on campus?
I attend the two senior Kairos retreats as an adult leader. I love helping the retreat ants spend four days exploring their spirituality and their relationship with God through talks, meditations and activities. The retreat is an emotionally powerful time in which students connect with each other and with God.
What do you love about the all-girls environment at Immaculate Heart?
I love that girls find their voice at Immaculate Heart. Girls’ confidence grows when they learn that they can express themselves in their classes without judgment.
What is something special about working at Immaculate Heart?
Teachers are friends. I have friends not only in my department, but across campus. We enjoy having lunch together where we talk about everything from school or home life to what is happening around the world. Sometimes our talk is serious and other times hilarious. I love coming to school to see my friends, just like the students do!
