Remembering Robin Wong Evans

Katherine Robin Wong Evans graduated from Immaculate Heart High School in 1985.  After her death on June 19, 2021, her classmates donated to IHHS in honor of her memory.  They wrote this about her:

Kind. Strong. Graceful. Creative. Brilliant.

Our cherished sister, Robin Wong Evans, Class of 1985, was a rare and amazing soul who could ski down a mountain, whip up a gourmet meal or a couture gown, and explain a physics problem with equal adeptness.

She carried her talent and intelligence with an indescribable effortlessness and generously shared her gifts with so many of us.

As a woman of great heart, she embodied the spirit of the Immaculate Heart. We feel that there could be no better tribute to Robin than a gift to nurture and support scholars who demonstrate exceptional talent in art and science.

Please join us in honoring Robin Wong Evans by making a gift in her honor to Immaculate Heart High School.

I know that Robin in turn cherished her time at IHHS.  I can see from their words how the girl they knew in high school became the woman I loved.  I recently watched the documentary 'Rebel Hearts' (2021) about Immaculate Heart and it became obvious to me how the progressive, political, and feminist ideals of the school inspired the woman I married.

And so to honor both Robin and Robin’s memories of her high school, I am endowing a scholarship in her name at Immaculate Heart.

I have found that others who knew Robin have asked how they might contribute in her name.  If you would like to do so here, that would be appreciated.  Not for the amount that you might give, but because you cared enough to give.  I thank you for that.

She is loved and she is missed.

About Immaculate Heart

Immaculate Heart is the place where girls in grades 6 – 12 thrive. Students gain a sense of self, discover their voice, and pursue their passions. Inspired by supportive faculty, they embrace a love of learning as they master new skills. Student lives are also enriched by a diverse and welcoming school community bound by beloved traditions and lifelong friendships.

Since 1906, Immaculate Heart has been educating young women in Los Angeles as a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school. In its spirit and style, the school combines a well-balanced mixture of the traditional and the innovative; of play and work; of concern for the things of the heart as well as the mind.

By fostering academic excellence in a creative environment, Immaculate Heart empowers students to become women of great heart and right conscience. Immaculate Heart graduates distinguish themselves as intellectually curious, competent and compassionate individuals who seek to make a difference in the world.

A Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls in grades 6 through 12, Immaculate Heart has been located on a beautiful hillside property in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles since our founding by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1906. We celebrate more than a century of nurturing the spiritual, intellectual, social and moral development of students as they distinguish themselves as women of great heart and right conscience.
