Immaculate Heart launched a new year of instruction with a jubilant start as the school community celebrated an opening liturgy, freshmen and transfer students received white roses, and sixth graders tossed stuffed Pandas into the air in honor of the school’s mascot.
Classes for high school students began on Thursday, August 15, and the middle school opened its doors the following day on Friday, August 16. Meeting early on their first day of school, members of the Class of 2025 savored their official status as seniors with balloons, banners and lively music in the courtyard. The next morning, the middle schoolers exchanged hugs as friends reunited on campus following summer break.
Days before, the Immaculate Heart campus was a hub of activity as teachers attended in-service meetings and decorated classrooms while new students toured buildings and located their lockers as part of their orientation programs.
More community-building events on campus will follow in the weeks to come, including a Back-to-School Barbecue organized by the Athletic Department and the Parents Booster Club on Saturday, August 24, and a Parent’s Social hosted by the Parent Council on Saturday, September 21.
Meanwhile, as students tackle new subjects in classes, they will also prepare for Immaculate Heart’s most popular tradition, Welcome Day, which will feature skits, songs and costumes in honor of new students and teachers. Fall sports are already under way, with winter sports conditioning set to start. In coming weeks, students will also take advantage of community service projects and the more than 30 clubs and organizations on campus.

A Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls in grades 6 through 12, Immaculate Heart has been located on a beautiful hillside property in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles since our founding by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1906. We celebrate more than a century of nurturing the spiritual, intellectual, social and moral development of students as they distinguish themselves as women of great heart and right conscience.
