Lauren Geoghegan Memorial Scholarship

In Memory of Lauren Anne Muñoz Geoghegan '06

Lauren Geoghegan '06 sought to live deliberately and meaningfully through choices that enhanced her life and the lives of countless others she touched — through friendships, academic pursuits, and even the memorable character roles she adeptly played in Genesian theatre productions.

After Lauren’s untimely death in 2018, her family established the Lauren Anne Muñoz Geoghegan '06 Timshel Scholarship Endowment. The scholarship award supports an incoming 9th grade student to attend Immaculate Heart High school. The gift is awarded all four years. The scholarship was first awarded to a freshman student during the 2019-2020 school year who graduated in June 2023. Gifts from family and friends have allowed the scholarship to grow.

A Timshel Scholar is a student who is curious, loves learning, is adventurous, and actively pursues their interests. They live a life of integrity and commitment to their beliefs as well as appreciating and enjoying life. They are students of “great heart and right conscience” demonstrated by a commitment to the well-being of others and to all living things. They extend themselves through extracurricular or volunteer activities in their communities.

“Life is a never-ending cycle. When something unfortunate takes place, I know that life will only get better. I will rebound. Despite all the pain and sorrow, and despair, joy, love, hope and compassion exist as well. Even when the going gets tough, I know that I will smile again, and most importantly, life will go on.”
